My name is Marcelle Robbins (South African), my husband is Anthony (British) and we are beginning the process of immigration to the UK, from Africa and as such have been researching viable employment options relating to our experience and skills. We were very interested to see that our experience and skills would be well suited to couple management roles within your organization.
Just a little bit of background on us.
14 years ago, we gave up our city life in Johannesburg and moved to the bushveld to manage bush camps. Anthony was a software developer and I was a hairstylist. We had a passion for wide-open spaces but far and above that we were looking for a quality of life that the city could not offer us.
Since then we have been privileged to advance in our career as couple managers and see and experience some wonderful exciting places. We have developed a wide array of transferable skills over these years that has served us very well and enabled us to build quite a broad portfolio of experience. We have both been actively involved in hands-on managing of frontline guest service as well as the back of house operations. In Africa, as a hospitality manager, you need to be a “jack-of-all-trades” by managing all aspects of operational duties as well as financial and administrative duties.
We have always been exceptional people persons, enjoying the company of all types of people from all walks of life and different ages. We have built so many long-lasting relationships with guests that have crossed our paths over the years which has brought us an immense amount of joy and satisfaction. We have always prided ourselves on the fact that we are very focused on ensuring that anyone that crosses our paths has the most memorable time and is well cared for during their time with us.
Together with our people skills we have also excelled in other areas of operations, particularly having the ability to ensure that our properties function at an optimal level. We have been directly managing all departments including maintenance, finance, HR, housekeeping, kitchens, logistics, front of house service and much more. We have become adept at thinking quickly on our feet and rising to unexpected challenges. Instead of having a “panicked” attitude we have rather developed a calm and measured way of dealing with things.
Anthony has over and above everything, extensive maintenance knowledge, able to deal with almost all maintenance issues in a timely and responsible manner, ensuring that work is done to a high standard.
We have both really enjoyed the last 14 years of service to the public from all parts of the world and are very proud of our achievements and abilities.
