Exceptional hospitality experience
I spent 10 years honing my craft at the absolute tip of the hospitality industry – on super yachts. As a chief stewardess on a number of high-profile super yachts, I provided a personalized, exceptional service to guests onboard, ensuring that their every need was met 24/7. This included food and beverage service, housekeeping, as well as concierge service. Due to the exclusive and high-end nature of the superyacht industry, the expectations and demands placed on stewardesses are exceptionally high. Therefore, only the best of the best are able to succeed in this field, making it one of the most prestigious and competitive hospitality jobs in the world. This is a field I thrived in for 10 years.

Leadership and management skills
My job was to manage a team of staff to provide best-in-class service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for as long as guests were on board. Managing a team of people working long hours in a high-pressure environment takes high level interpersonal skills. Effective leadership skills are crucial to keeping the team motivated and focused on delivering exceptional service to guests, even when staff are tired, or on the rare occasion things aren’t going to plan. This involves creating a positive and supportive work environment, providing clear guidance and direction, and leading by example. Effective leadership skills are critical to success in the 24/7 environment of superyachts, and only those with exceptional leadership abilities can thrive in this demanding and prestigious field.

Passion for the industry
Having truly 'lived it' for up to 10 years it did not diminish my passion for service. Even after having children, 'retiring' from yachts, and moving back to New Zealand, I still sought out the highest challenge of the service industry had to offer. In Hawkes Bay, where we have been living for the last 3 years, that was working directly for the UHNW owners of Craggy Range Vineyard. I have been solely responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of their luxury residence as well as providing superyacht-level service to them and other VIP guests when they are 'in residence'.
